A starter room runs on one careful technician — machine operation, assembly, consumable inventory — plus a shared decision-maker (IE or technical manager) who picks which operations to template and signs off designs against defect data. The trait to hire for is carefulness, not seniority: template work rewards the person who checks alignment twice.
One ownership rule prevents the classic failure: the room serves the sewing floor’s defect list, not its own enthusiasm. Every template built should trace to a named operation with a defect or efficiency problem.
The first-quarter workflow
Quarter one has one goal: prove the loop on one operation.
