Selection & application

Choosing and applying double-sided template tape

Choose by joint role: 10–20 mm widths handle most layer-to-layer joints; 5 mm follows tight curves and small parts; 30–40 mm covers wide base laminations in one pass.

Cloth-base is the workhorse — it holds through open-close cycling yet peels clean at rebuild. Yellow-adhesive cloth grips harder for stressed flaps; fiberglass-mesh double-sided is the hinge-line upgrade where a flap works hundreds of cycles a shift.

Apply to dry, dust-free PVC or epoxy, press from the hinge side outward to avoid trapped air, and renew tape at every rebuild rather than layering new over old — stacked tape lines raise the flap and shadow the groove.
